I’ve been working there as a banquet server and have learned a lot from them.
Why did you start working for Upshift?
I was working a full-time job at a warehouse but needed some extra flexibility because I was in the process of becoming a nurse. My previous job didn’t allow me the time that I needed to study for my boards. I found Upshift online and decided to give it a chance. Upshift gave me the time to finish school and become a nurse.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
Obviously, I also work as a nurse now so that keeps me pretty busy. When I’m not working, I really love to sing and dance. I’ve been singing in my church choir since I was about 8 years old. I actually still sing in my choir for different services and events. I still enjoy it as much today as I did when I started singing as a child.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I think it’s important to treat the events, staff and guests the way you would want to be treated. If you were having a wedding or an event, you would want everyone to take it seriously and do the best job possible. I always think about that when I’m working. Having that kind of attitude really helps you to provide the best experience possible.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I’ve worked at universities, country clubs and hotels since I joined. I’ve enjoyed all my shifts but my favorite place to work has been at the Bellerive Country Club. I’ve been working there as a banquet server and have learned a lot from them. The thing that I really enjoy is being able to work at different businesses each week. Obviously, there are my favorite places that I go back to but having the ability to experience new positions and businesses really appeals to me.
