All these locations have had great staff that I’ve learned a lot from which has helped me on future shifts.
Why did you start working for Upshift?
I onboarded with Upshift in December, 2021. I moved to Houston after the hurricanes hit in 2020 and was looking for a fresh start. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next and saw that you could work part time or full time on Upshift. That type of flexibility along with the variety of different shift options was really appealing.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I’m an exercise science major so I love to workout in my free time. I’m also a big reader and love a good tv show. I mostly stick to sci-fi or adventure books. As far as tv shows go, I’m a big fan of Rick & Morty and Empire. I just started Game of Thrones and I’m totally hooked so that’s where most of my focus is right now.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
Although many of these shifts may be only one day, I treat them the same way I would a full-time job. This type of mindset is really important if you want to be successful. It makes you really eager to ask questions and learn. I’ve developed so many new skills over my time at Upshift and that has been a huge benefit to me.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
Some of my favorite places to work have been Toyota Center, Six Flags, Four Seasons and the Marriott Houston Downtown to name a few. I’ve worked several different positions including cashier, food prep, park associate, steward and park service associate. I really like working at locations that have helped me learn new things and enhance my skills. All these locations have had great staff that I’ve learned a lot from which has helped me on future shifts.
