Tell us what got you into Upshift?

I actually found Upshift online in March, 2022. I had my own business before the pandemic but that made it really hard to see my clients. I was trying to get my business back together post pandemic and was looking for a job while I was doing that. I was actually looking for a traditional type job but the flexibility of Upshift really appealed to me so I decided to sign up.

What do you do outside of work?

I spend most of my free time with my son who always has something going on. He’s really into sports so there’s always a football, baseball or basketball game that we’re going to. I love to hike so I’m always trying to find new trails around the Charlotte area to explore. That’s one of my favorite things that my son and I can do together.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters? 

 
There are so many opportunities on the platform so it’s really easy to find something you like. You can choose from a variety of different positions depending on your skill set which allows you to find something you can really be successful at. I actually had a lot of hospitality experience prior to joining but I’ve learned a variety of new positions and skills because I was open to it. 

Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family? 

I really feel like I’ve worked at most of the locations around Charlotte and I’ve enjoyed them all. One of my favorite things about Upshift is the ability to pick up shifts at different locations around town depending on what you’re interested in working that week. You can never really get bored because there are so many options to choose from. I would have to say my favorite place to work is at Davidson College. I love the fast paced atmosphere and the staff there really appreciate your hard work.
