Why did you start working for Upshift?
I heard about Upshift on the radio and it caught my attention right away. I had been working for several years at the same logistics job and wanted to find something new. I had previous experience working in light industrial and hospitality type jobs which made Upshift really appealing while I figured out what I wanted to do next. I signed up thinking this would be a short-term thing, but I’ve been working shifts for 2 years now because of how much I’ve enjoyed it.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I love outdoor activities, working out and reading in my free time. When the weather is warm, I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible hiking, biking or swimming. Obviously, the Winter can get really cold here so I spend more time indoors reading. I usually read adventure, mystery and thriller type books. I’ve really enjoyed reading James Patterson novels recently which I’d recommend to anyone who likes the same genres as me.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I always try to help new Upshifters who I meet on shifts that have questions about the app. I make sure to tell them to read the articles on the app and reach out to customer support if they have questions. This is a new way to work for most people and understanding the app and company policies is really important to being successful.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
It’s really hard to pick just one place as I’ve worked at over a dozen businesses and had good experiences at all of them. Recently, I’ve been working most of my shifts at Victoria’s Secret, Mid-Ohio Food Collective and Ascena Retail. These have been some of my favorite places to have worked since I joined Upshift. For me the most important thing is a positive work environment and all 3 of these businesses have provided that. That really starts with the staff at these locations who have been nothing but nice to me which has kept me coming back.
