Upshifter of the Week: Luke C.
I joined Upshift 3 years ago after my brother recommended it to me. He had done a couple of shifts and really enjoyed it. I was going to school at Miami University and was looking for a part time job. The fact that Upshift allowed me to make my own schedule was perfect while I was in school.
I just graduated from Miami University this spring and have been picking up more shifts since then. I’m actually moving to Hawaii at the end of the summer. I figured that you can move anywhere after college, so why not Hawaii? One of the reasons that I’ve been picking up so many shifts this summer is because I’m using the money I make on Upshift for the move.
I always enjoy talking with other Upshifters during our shifts. It’s a really good community of people who are always willing to help each other out. Upshifters are happy to share their experiences as well as their favorite places to work, which can be really valuable–especially for someone who is new and is just getting a feel for the platform.
I only worked banquet serving shifts while in college and really enjoyed Great Wolf Lodge. I focused on hospitality early on because I could do it more sporadically but switched over to working light industrial shifts when I wanted something with a more consistent schedule. I’ve been working at Swim Outlet recently and really like it there.

“I’ve met a lot of great people through Upshift and we work shifts together now. It’s great because we all help each other before and during shifts.”
