Why did you start working for Upshift?
I learned about Upshift from my sister who had actually signed up and was working shifts. I was actually working on another gig type app but was looking for something more consistent and full time. I completed my onboarding in July 2022 and started picking up shifts right after that.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I’m a big sports fan especially basketball and football. I live in Charlotte but I’m actually and Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Hawks fan. I’ve never really played sports but I love watching games. I also love to play video games in my free time. As a big sports fan, it’s no surprise that one of my favorite games is NBA2K but I also love Call of Duty.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I really tried to make the best impression possible from my very first shift. I may not have had the most experience but was willing to learn and worked as hard as possible. I think that if you’re willing to do that, you’ll make a really good impression and the businesses will want you to come back for future shifts. Those have been the main reasons why I’ve had so much success on the platform.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I’ve worked most of my shifts at the Charlotte Convention Center as a food service worker and Advoc8 as a warehouse fulfillment associate. I didn’t have a lot of experience in either of these roles so I’ve learned a lot during my shifts. My main goal was to learn new skills and use them to succeed on future shifts. Both businesses have been great to work with which is why I keep going back.
