Why did you start working for Upshift?
I joined Upshift in 2019 after hearing about it through Facebook. At the time, I was looking for a job where I could pick when and where I wanted to work. I read up about Upshift and realized it was exactly what I was looking for.
What do you do outside of work?
When I’m not working, I love to take vacations and travel. I’m actually going on a cruise to the Bahamas this weekend. This will be my first trip since the pandemic started so I’m really looking forward to it. Cruises are my favorite way to travel and I’ve been to so many great places on them including Bermuda, St. Thomas, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and the Cayman Islands.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I would recommend trying shifts more than once to figure out if you like them. I’ve had some shifts that I wasn’t sure how I felt after my first experience. Each time that I’ve decided to give it at least one more shift, it’s worked out really well for me. Keeping an open mind and trying shifts more than once has been really key.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
Some of my favorite places to work are at the Courtyard Marriott, Manor House, and Cincinnati Catering. I’ve mostly focused on bartending and banquet serving shifts as I have a lot of hospitality experience. I love working at the Courtyard Marriott because we have a great group of people that are there regularly and it’s awesome to see them and work with them.
