Tell us a bit about yourself. 

I have over 17 years of experience in the hospitality and culinary field, where I have served in a variety of positions over the years including customer service, banquets, housekeeping, and cooking. I also received my Bachelor’s Degree in Culinary Management from the Art Institute of Cincinnati. Cooking has always been a passion of mine so I love that I’ve been able to make it into a career for myself.

How has it been working on Upshift?

I have only been working on Upshift since August but I absolutely love it. I originally heard about it while I was working an event at the convention center. Someone there mentioned that I should give it a try so I went for it and I’m really glad I did. I like that I can choose shifts that fit around my own schedule, between picking my son up from school or when I sometimes watch my sister’s kids in the evenings. On the app, I get to see all the shifts that are available and I can go from there depending on what my week is looking like. Most of my shifts through Upshift have been in banquets, catering, and cooking positions. One of my favorite places to pick up shifts has been at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Everyone there is so nice and the museum is also just a really cool place to work!

What do you like most about Upshift?

It’s hard to choose just one thing because there’s honestly so much to say. The flexibility is definitely one of the most important things for me. Since I have so many other things going on, this is perfect because it gives me the freedom to set my own availability for work. Working shifts with other Upshifters is a good experience as well because they’re always willing to help you out and show you the ropes if you’re new to something. Overall, I have really enjoyed using Upshift and I’m looking forward to taking more shifts in the future!
