The staff and atmosphere keep me coming back to the Convention Center. I feel really lucky to have found somewhere that I enjoy working this much.
Why did you start working for Upshift?
I had just moved from Pennsylvania and was looking for a job with full time hours. Obviously being in a new city makes looking for a new job a little bit tougher. I was out with some friends and started chatting with someone who had joined Upshift a few months before. She told me how much she loved it so I decided to give it a shot and I’ve been working shifts ever since.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I love spending time with my family and friends outside of work. I’ve really enjoyed the weather down in Charlotte compared to up north especially during the Winter months. I’m a big Philadelphia Eagles fan so it was awesome getting to watch them in the Super Bowl. My son is a Chiefs fan so that made the game a lot more interesting. I’m looking forward to next season already!

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I would say keeping an open mind is really important. I really didn’t know what to expect when I joined but I tried to have the right mindset when I went to all my shifts. I’ve had other jobs where you sometimes dread having to go into work. However, I never feel that way with these shifts and actually look forward to going to work.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
My favorite place to work has been at the Charlotte Convention Center. I’ve worked several different positions there from cashier to cook. I love the flexibility that they provide with their shifts and how they’ve worked with me on my schedule. I have worked at a couple of other places but the staff and atmosphere keep me coming back to the Convention Center. I feel really lucky to have found somewhere that I enjoy working this much because it’s not something I expected before I joined.
