Why did you start working for Upshift?
I’m a mother of 3 and I started working with Upshift in February. I mainly signed on because I saw it was very flexible. I have 3 children and I wanted to be able to spend more time with them. I also take care of my mom so I never know when I’m going to have to leave work or not work at all. It’s just better than a full time job because I can schedule shifts on my own time. I really do love it because of the flexibility. Definitely have recommended it to people such as my husband and son who also enjoy it!
What do you do outside of work?
I like to do a lot of recycled art projects and DIY projects. I like taking old wine bottles and redesigning them with “modge podge” and newspaper just to make something different and decorative. I also love doing canvas art, making jewelry and painting on clothes. I’m an artist at heart so I really love when I’m able to do arts and crafts.
What has been your favorite company to work with?
I really love working at Trump National in Doral. I was a hostess there and I absolutely loved it because they treat you like family. They don’t treat you like you’re just there temporarily. I’ve even had a supervisor ask me to work more shifts. He created a shift for me just to come in and work. It made me feel really nice and valued for my work. I’ve also enjoyed working at LoanDepot and at Jackson Memorial.
What advice would you give to new Upshifters?
I would say that you should just give it a try. Even though you might think there’s a position you wouldn’t normally try, you should try it anyway because you may be surprised at how much you love it because that’s what happened to me. When I first worked at Trump National, I didn’t just work as a hostess but also worked as a busser and food runner. I was surprised at how much I liked it! At a full time job, you may sometimes feel kind of stuck just doing one thing but with Upshift, you can try different jobs. You might even find your new career. It’s really flexible and people should really take advantage of that!
