I’m a people person so being able to interact with students and fans during my shifts brings me a lot of joy.

Tell us what got you into Upshift?

My sister told me about Upshift in the Spring of 2022. She had been picking up shifts for two years and kept telling me about how much she enjoyed it. My full time job is as a hair stylist so my schedule changes each week based on my appointments. I was interested in finding a job to make extra money but I needed a lot of flexibility which most companies could not provide. Upshift really was the perfect fit for someone like me who has a schedule that changes constantly.

What do you do outside of work?

My full time job does keep me really busy but traveling is my favorite thing to do in my free time. Some of my favorite places I’ve been to recently are New Orleans, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. I really love New Orleans and I’m actually going back there next week. One of the best things working on Upshift is that I’ve been able to travel a lot more without taking time off like I would from a typical part time job. I actually have a few friends who I travel with and I’ve been pushing them to join because I know they’ll really enjoy it.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?

I really love the platform and always recommend it to friends and family. Obviously, I had prior experience in the hospitality industry so it was really easy for me to jump in. However, there are a lot of positions on the platform which will allow you to learn and develop skills for other shifts. You may have to push yourself out of your comfort zone to try something new but it’s definitely worth it.

Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family?

I’ve really enjoyed all of the shifts that I’ve picked up through Upshift. I’ve worked several different positions on the hospitality side such as concession worker, line cook, banquet server and dishwasher. I had prior experience working these types of positions so it was very easy for me to jump in. My favorite positions are working as a concessions worker at LoanDepot and as a link cook at Nova Southeastern University. I’m a people person so I really enjoy being able to interact not only with the staff members but the fans and students.
