Why did you start working for Upshift?
I had just moved to Dallas in August, 2021 when I heard about Upshift. I had spent the previous 15 years in retail most recently as a jewelry supervisor but wanted to try something new. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next so being able to try out different things on Upshift really appealed to me.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I have a child in middle school so I spend most of time with him when I’m not working. There are always school and after school related activities that keep us busy. One of the best things about Upshift is it allows us to spend a lot of time together. Children’s schedules are always changing and Upshift allows you to work around that.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
Don’t be afraid to try something that you’ve never done before or haven’t done in a long time. The shifts on the platform offer a variety of different positions, schedules, skills and requirements. There is something out there for you if you’re willing to look for it.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I’ve focused on hospitality shifts since I signed up. Some of my favorite places to work have been Chef Tim Love Catering, Wolfgang Puck and Morada, I’ve mostly worked as either a Server or Cashier and really enjoy those positions. The main reason I continue to go back to these businesses is the people. The friendliness and professionalism is really on display during your shifts and they make you feel like family.
