Some of the people on the shifts I’ve been working with since I started on Upshift so it’s really fun to see those people who you have a good working relationship with.
Why did you start working for Upshift?
I signed up for Upshift in the summer of 2021. I was searching online for a job to make extra money with more flexibility as I was taking CDL classes. My previous job didn’t have nearly the flexibility that Upshift offered and the pay rates weren’t as good. I only planned on doing this while I was taking classes but have continued working shifts on Upshift ever since I signed up and have worked for 1,600 hours on the platform.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
When I’m not working, I love to travel. Last year, I went to Puerto Rico, New York, Florida, Las Vegas, Hawaii and California. I always try to travel somewhere for my birthday so last year it was Hawaii and this year it’s the Virgin Islands. That’s probably my favorite thing about Upshift is that it’s allowed me to travel more than I ever have before. Being able to schedule my work life around my personal life is not something that’s very common and it’s been a huge benefit to me.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I always recommend trying to work shifts at different locations so you can decide what you like. The more places you’ve been successful at gives you more options in the future. I’ve been lucky enough to find a number of places that I enjoy working at which allows me to mix it up based on what my schedule allows.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I’ve worked at so many of the different venues around town over the last couple of years. Some of my favorite places to work have been Morada, Wolfgang Puck Catering and Preston of Park Cities. I’ve worked at a variety of different locations through Wolfgang Puck Catering with each venue and event always being really fun. Some of the people on the Wolfgang Puck shifts, I’ve been working with since I started on Upshift so it’s really fun to see those people who you have a good working relationship with.
