Why did you start working for Upshift?
I signed up in October, 2021 after hearing about it from my neighbor. They had been picking up shifts and really enjoyed it. At the time, I was about to go back to school and was looking for a way to make some extra money that fit with my schedule. The fact that I could pick up shifts around my class schedule really appealed to me.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I play a lot of basketball when I’m not working or studying. All my roommates love basketball so there’s a good chance you’ll find us playing in our free time. I also work in a youth ministry for high school students and they play as well. Outside of that, I love to longboard, listen to music, workout and read.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I really think it’s important to try a variety of different shifts and not be afraid to try something new. I had only done warehouse shifts to that point but decided to give it a try. I realized that I loved working at Mid-Ohio after working a couple of shifts there. Your favorite shift might be waiting for you if you’re willing to find it.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I worked at a few warehouses around town which I’ve really enjoyed. I like being able to throw in a podcast while I work those shifts. The place where I’ve worked the most has been Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Being able to work somewhere that is helping people is an awesome feeling. They’re doing really great things for the community and I’m glad to be a part of it.
