Not only are the venues very cool, the staff and guests at both locations make it a real pleasure to come to work.

Why did you start working for Upshift?

I heard about Upshift online in April, 2022. I just made the decision to leave my current job and find something new that was lower stress. I had never heard of a concept like Upshift but the Upshifter in the video I watched seemed genuinely excited to be a part of it, so I decided to give it a shot. I submitted my application, scheduled my onboarding and worked my first shift within a week. I really enjoyed my first shift and knew at that point that I wanted to keep working on the platform.

What do you do outside of Upshift?

I love outdoor activities like running, biking, hiking and skating. The more time I can spend moving around outdoors the better. When the cold weather hits, that’s when I focus on some of my other hobbies that I can do at home. If I’m at home, you can usually find my reading, listening to jazz music or working on different crafts. I make my own body washes, scrubs and blankets to give out as presents to friends and family.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?

Always arrive with an open mind, positive attitude and be willing to learn. I like to arrive early and connect with the onsite manager to ensure I understand where I’ll be working and confirm the expectations for the shift. If I’m not sure how to do something, I always make sure to ask and have found that the staff and managers are really willing to help you. I’ve learned so much from my previous shifts which has been invaluable to my continued success on the platform.

What have been your favorite shifts so far?

I’ve worked at several different businesses including Emory Conference Center, Wolfgang Puck Catering, Georgia Aquarium and the Illuminarium. The locations of the shifts are really important for me as Atlanta has notoriously bad traffic. I would have to say that Georgia Aquarium and the Illuminarium have been my two favorite places to work. The Illuminarium always has cool art installations and the aquarium offers you the opportunity to work shifts surrounded by marine life. Not only are the venues very cool, the staff and guests at both locations make it a real pleasure to come to work.
