The shifts that I’ve enjoyed the most and have continued to go back to is directly related to the onsite team that I got to work with.
Why did you start working for Upshift?
I actually signed up for Upshift in 2019 and have been working shifts since then. At the time, I had a job that offered flexibility and that really appealed to me. That was a new experience for me and I knew I didn’t want to go back to a set schedule. When I learned that Upshift offered me total flexibility over my schedule, I knew this was something that I wanted to be a part of.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
When I’m not working, you can usually find me on a golf course. I’ve played sports most of my life including playing a lot of basketball. I started playing golf as an adult and got hooked immediately. There are a few good courses in the Columbus area that I play at. During the warmer months, I play almost everyday which is why the flexibility with Upshift has been such a huge benefit to me. Being able to schedule shifts that allow me to get outside and play golf everyday is hard to beat.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I always like to show up early for my shifts so I’m not rushing at the last minute. It’s really important to have the right mindset when you arrive and the risk of being late doesn’t help with that. I always take my shifts very seriously and prepare to do the best job possible. We get to choose where and when we want to work which means we should be prepared for our shifts before we arrive as we chose to be there.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I worked at a lot of different locations since I joined Upshift and worked a variety of different positions as well. Some of the positions I’ve worked have been dishwasher, steward, food service associate and server. Some of my favorite places to work have been at the Columbus Convention Center, Cameron Mitchell and the Columbus Zoo. I’ve honestly enjoyed all my shifts that I’ve worked on the platform. The main thing for me is working with a great group of people and being treated well. The shifts that I’ve enjoyed the most and have continued to go back to is directly related to the onsite team that I got to work with.
