Upshifter of the Month
We are proud to announce that our Columbus Upshifter of the Month is Tammy D. She has over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, working herself from serving and bartending roles up to Assistant and Bar Manager levels. Her extensive work with Upshift (49 shifts in 2.5 months!) is helping save funds for her business as well as help with her daughter’s college costs. She was recently featured by NBC 4 in a story about Upshift and has become pivotal in helping the Columbus Zoo execute their special events.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I moved to Columbus from a small town in 2003 and got my start in the insurance industry, but after a few years I found my passion bartending and working in hospitality. After working my way up to the level of Bar Manager, I was asked to help with the opening of a popular restaurant in Columbus as the Assistant Manager. With that experience under my belt, I decided to refocus on beginning to build my own business and found Upshift at the same time.
How has it been working on Upshift?
I’ve found working with Upshift to be very accommodating and rewarding. I can define my own schedule and the flexibility allows me to pursue my other passions while still working in the industry I love. Many of the businesses have told me how much they enjoy using Upshift and have shown that by how well they treat us when we work for them.
What do you like most about Upshift?
The flexibility and number of opportunities has been really beneficial. I also really enjoy learning new things from all the businesses I’ve worked with and being able to see how they operate so I can see if they may be a good fit for future full-time opportunities.
