Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I heard about Upshift on social media in February, 2022. I hadn’t heard of anything like it before and honestly the flexibility seemed too good to be true. I was working full time as a nurse but was looking for something to do on the side now that my daughter isn’t living at home while she’s at school. I was so excited to find Upshift because it really was the perfect fit for me.
What do you do outside of work?
I enjoy reading, volunteering at my church and spending time with family. I have two children that live in Cincinnati and one that lives in Washington DC so we love to visit them. One of the coolest things about the platform is being able to pick up shifts in other cities when we’re traveling. We had a family vacation to Florida this past year and there was a day where it was raining so our activities got cancelled. Instead of sitting at home all day, I was able to hop on the platform and pick up a shift which was awesome.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
My biggest piece of advice would be to jump right in once you onboard. It’s great to start working shifts right off the bat so you can figure out what you enjoy and what your favorite venues are. Make sure to be positive, friendly and work hard so that you can build friendships like I have which makes working these shifts even more fun.
Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family?
I did have experience in the hospitality industry so the shifts being offered on the platform were right up my alley. I’ve worked at several different venues around town with some of my favorite shifts being at the Columbus Museum of Art and Mid-Ohio Food Collective. Mid-Ohio is a really great place to work because they’re doing so much good in the Columbus area.
