Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I heard about Upshift from a friend while I was going to college in Cincinnati. Your workload in college can fluctuate throughout the semester and it’s hard to find a job that’s flexible enough to work around that. The flexibility Upshift provided was the perfect fit for me when I was in college. I enjoyed it so much that when I moved back to Columbus after college, I actually started working more shifts because of how much I appreciated the flexibility.
What do you do outside of work?
A couple of years ago, I started doing photography and it has become my passion. I’ve bought a lot of professional photography equipment and have started doing freelance gigs for different events around town. The freelance world can be very unpredictable so Upshift’s flexibility has been the perfect complement to it. I can pick up more shifts when my photography work is slower and pick us less shifts when I have a lot of events scheduled.

What has your experience been like on Upshift?
I’ve really enjoyed all my shifts on Upshift. I’ve worked on the hospitality side as a prep cook, banquet server and host as well as on the light industrial side as a warehouse associate. There are so many different positions which allows you to find something something that fits your strengths. One of my favorite places to work recently has been at Sage Dining @ Columbus Academy. They have a great team there that makes you want to go back.
Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
The main advice I would give is to review the available shifts to find shifts that fit your experience and strengths. There are a variety of shifts on the platform so you’ll be able to find something where you can be successful.
