Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I saw a post online about Upshift which explained how flexible it was. The flexibility of being able to work a different amount of hours each week really appealed to me. Most jobs decide how many hours you work each week and when you work them. The fact that I got to choose my own schedule each week is what made me decide to onboard in June, 2021.
What do you do outside of work?
We’re in a bowling league once a week which is really fun. I also like volunteering at a neighborhood farm here in Cincinnati. They grow their own produce and offer it for free to people who may not have access to that type of food. We also send out crockpot meals during the week to people who can’t make the trip to the farm. That’s one of the reasons the flexibility Upshift provides is so important to me. It allows me the ability to spend my free time volunteering and giving back to the community.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I think the most important thing early on is to apply for shifts that you know are in your wheelhouse. The shift details will provide all the information you need to understand what to expect during the shift. You really want to be fair to yourself and the business by picking up shifts that you have the required experience for and can complete successfully. Completing your first few shifts successfully will be a big confidence boost for you moving forward.
Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family?
I’ve worked in hospitality most of my life and that’s always been something that I’ve loved doing. Recently, I’ve been working a lot of shifts at Comprehensive Logistics and have loved it there. I also love working as a banquet server at the Summit Hotel and Cincinnati Women’s Club. One of the best things about Upshift is the wide variety of light industrial and hospitality shifts you can work each week. I always love going back to these businesses because of how we’re treated as Upshifters. They really treat us as an important part of the team and not like we’re just there for a few hours. It’s really an amazing feeling and keeps me coming back.
