What are your favorite things about Upshift?.
This is my second year working with Upshift. I found it by just looking for jobs through my phone one day and Upshift just popped up. I really liked the idea of being able to work whenever you have time, especially if you have other things going on like another job or running your own small business. It’s perfect for if you are an artist or student because you can still work on your goals while you also find work on your own time.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
Outside of Upshift, I am an independent seamstress so I take small online orders where I might patch up a jacket or two. I am also just a mom who enjoys spending time with my family.
You are also representing Upshift. It helps the businesses know that Upshift will provide them with good workers.
Favorite Shifts to Work.
I really like working at the Ballantyne Hotel. I am also going to try a picking and packing position which is new to me. There’s really so many things and jobs that I love. Either the manager I’ve worked with is awesome or it’s consistent and the days move very quickly. For example, I worked at Frieling USA where the work was hard but the manager was really awesome to work with. Mountain Khakis is another I really liked. You stay busy the whole day and your 8 hours go by very fast. Also some of the businesses provide a free meal which is always great! I really like mixing up the types of shifts I work whether it be hospitality or light industrial. It makes it fun and I’ve made great connections with the different businesses. I like getting to “wear a new hat” everyday.
Do you have any advice for incoming Upshifters?
Keep applying for different jobs and don’t give up. Sometimes you have to take jobs you don’t want in order to build your experience and get your ratings up on the app. It also gets you comfortable with working these different types of jobs and in different environments. Also make sure you keep your biography up to date by putting all of the new skills you’ve learned from the different jobs. The most important thing is to make sure you’re showing up on time because that will also get you into the good graces of the business. You are also representing Upshift. It helps the businesses know that Upshift will provide them with good workers. It has all been a great experience and I hope I can stay to see the company grow!
