Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I was looking for something flexible that I could work around my full time job to supplement my income. I was working at the library where my schedule would switch between mornings and afternoons. The opportunity to work work when we want without a set schedule every week is exactly what I was looking for. I onboarded in June, 2021 and picked up my first shift within a week.
What do you do outside of work?
I spend most of my free time rollerblading and writing poetry. I have a roller rink near my house which I visit a lot but I’m always trying to find a new park to explore. Poetry has been a passion of mine for a long time and now I write my own. I really enjoy going to different mic nights around town not only to share my own work but to hear what others have worked on.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
Make sure to show up on time and ready to work. You want to make a good impression so that you have the opportunity to work more shifts in the future. Treating staff, supervisors and customers the way that you want to be treated goes a long way to creating positive relationships.
Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family?
I’ve worked at almost two dozen businesses since joining and have worked a variety of different positions including warehouse associate, dishwasher, banquet set-up, assembler among others. I’ve really enjoyed all the shifts I’ve worked so it’s hard to pick a favorite. If I had to pick a couple of my favorite shifts it would have to be working at Progressive Field for a Guardians game and Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse for a Cavs game.
