Why did you start working for Upshift?
I found Upshift in the Summer, 2022 when I was searching online for available jobs. I had just ended my previous position and was looking for something full time. I was hesitant to get a traditional full-time job because I have a family and needed the extra flexibility to spend more time at home. I submitted my application, onboarded and started picking up shifts within a few days.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
Between family and work, I don’t have a ton of free time but I do love to go country dancing. If I have some time off, you can usually find me at one of the many venues around town that put on dancing events throughout the week. It’s mostly country music but there are different dance styles included such as Arizona two step, Texas two step and West Coast swing.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I was definitely nervous at first because I had never picked up shifts through an app before. I looked through the available positions and found one that sounded interesting to me. The app is really easy to use and there are definitely great shifts available but you need to be willing to give it a chance.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
My favorite place to work has been at Canteen. I started picking up shifts there a few days after I onboarded. The onsite staff and managers were so welcoming and really made sure that I got the proper training needed to succeed. It was a really fun atmosphere where everyone knew what they needed to do. After working there for a few months, I was actually able to be hired on by them. I never would have had that opportunity without Upshift.
