Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I heard about Upshift in 2021 but didn’t submit my application until 2022. At the time, I was looking at a variety of gig economy options. It was hard to find a W-2 position which offered a truly flexible schedule, weekly pay and benefits. Upshift offered so much more than most gig economy companies which is what drew me to it.
What do you do outside of work?
When I’m not working, you can usually find me reading books and learning new things. I’m always researching things online trying to learn as much as I can about the world around me. I’m also the caretaker for disabled family member. Upshift allows me the flexibility to be a devoted caregiver and work a full schedule around that.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
The biggest piece of advice would be to read through the shift details to make sure you understand what is required prior to applying for a shift. These sections contain important information which will allow you to choose the shifts that are the best fit for you.
What has your experience been like on Upshift?
I had over 25 years of retail, customer support and hospitality experience before joining Upshift. This allowed me to jump into a variety of different positions once I joined the platform. I love working as a banquet server and have had the opportunity to work at variety of locations around Cleveland. Two of my favorite places to work have been Cleveland Museum of Art and St. Clair Ballroom. They recognize and appreciate your hard work which makes you want to return for future shifts.
