Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I was thinking about making a career change and starting my own business. I wanted a way to be able to make some extra money while I was getting the business off the ground. I onboarded in December 2022 and completed my first shift within a few weeks.
What do you do outside of work?
I started my own business a couple of years ago so I’ve spent a lot of my free time working on that. When I’m not working, I spend most of my free time helping at my church with different ministries and projects including helping the homeless.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
My main advice is to have an open mind and be willing to try out a few different shifts until you find the ones you like. I was able to make extra money and learn how to be a barista which has been really cool.
What has your experience been like on Upshift?
I’ve worked at a few different businesses but my favorite has to be Charlotte Convention Center. I’ve worked the majority of my shifts as a Barista there and have really enjoyed it. I love how fast paced it is during the busy events. It’s been really fun learning how to make all the cool coffee drinks they offer.
