Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I remember hearing about Upshift when it arrived in Charlotte. A couple of years later, I was speaking with one of my employees and they were raving about how much fun they were having picking up shifts on the platform. At the time, I had made the decision to retire from working full time and wanted a way to pick up work flexibly in my free time. Upshift was the perfect fit for the next chapter in my life.
What do you do outside of work?
Since I’ve stepped away from working full time, I have a lot more free time which I’ve been able to use on improvements around my house. I’ve had a lot of projects on my list for several years so it’s nice to be able to finally work on them.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
The biggest piece of advice is make sure you’re open to learning and always ask questions at your shifts. I like to help new Upshifters when I meet them at their first shifts. Upshifters are always happy to help anyone new on the platform which is one reason it’s a great community.
What has your experience been like on Upshift?
I started working in restaurants when I was 15 and have worked both front and back of house positions. I really like working at event venues around town. My favorite events to work are as a banquet server at Big Chill. I love that it’s a fast paced and the events are always really fun.
