Tell us what got you into Upshift?

I am working on my nursing degree so most of my time is spent in class or studying. I couldn’t commit to a job that required set hours or where the business would change the hours each week. I really needed to be in control of my schedule so that I could flex my hours up or down based on my workload in school. Upshift is perfect because it allows me to make money while focusing on school.

What do you do outside of work?

If I’m going to be honest, most of my time is spent studying or in class. When I do pull myself away from studying, I like to catch up on my favorite shows, go to the movies with friends or hang out at the beach. One of the best things about living in Miami is the weather and being close to the beach. Some of the shows I’ve been watching recently are House of Dragon, Black Mirror and Bob’s Burgers.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?

I would say consistency is one of the most important things. I always try to be consistent with how I pick up shifts because that keeps the positive momentum going. You want to make sure your attitude and effort and attitude during shifts is also consistent so that the businesses will want you to return for future shifts. I’ve found that the other staff members and onsite managers really appreciate it and that’s opened a lot of doors for future shifts for me.

Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family?

I’ve worked at several locations around Miami but most of my shifts have been at loanDepot Park, Kaseya Center and Five Star Premier Residences. One of the nice things about working multiple shifts at one business is you get to know the other staff members and how the business operates. Even though you don’t work full time at these businesses, it’s a great feeling to arrive for the shift and be greeted by other staff members who are excited to see you. Working at Kaseya Center and loanDepot Park is really fun because you are working during concerts or games. When you work at events like this, the time flies by because of how busy it is and the energy flowing through the venues especially during the games.
