Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I heard about Upshift in November of 2022 from my husband’s coworker. He had already onboarded and was really enjoying it. I’m in nursing school and was looking for something with a flexible schedule which would allow me to pick up shifts while I finish my last few semesters. Upshift is the perfect fit for someone like me who wants to work while they go to school.
What do you do outside of work?
Nursing school does keep me really busy these days. When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me working on different types of crafts. I’ve been doing crafts for a long time and it’s become a passion of mine. I make everything from customized tumblers to t-shirts. Customized tumblers are great as gifts so I’ve made them for so many of my family and friends. I also design and customize t-shirts for my daughter’s teams and my family when we go on vacation.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
You have to be open and willing to try something new. I had never worked on an app like this and so that was intimidating at first. I decided to find the first shift that really appealed to me and go for it. I’m so glad that I picked up that first shift because I’ve enjoyed it so much.
Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family?
I’ve worked at a variety of different locations from retirement communities, colleges, country clubs and convention centers. Two of my favorite places to work have been Unidine @ Westminster Towers and Charlotte Convention Center. At Unidine @ Westminster Towers, I’ve been working as a server and really enjoy being able to interact and assist the residents who always bring a smile to my face. At the Charlotte Convention Center, I’ve been working at Einstein’s bagels which has been a blast. The team is absolutely amazing and the work is really fun. The work is usually fast paced making sandwiches and working as a barista.
