Why did you start working for Upshift?
I actually heard about Upshift in November 2021 when I was scrolling through Facebook. I currently take care of my father and was looking for a job where I could work around the times that I do that. Most jobs require you to work a set schedule determined by the business but Upshift allowed me to choose when I wanted to work. This allowed me to set my work schedule each week based around what I needed to help my father with. This has been the perfect fit for me!
What do you do outside of Upshift?
When I’m not working or helping my father, you can find me doing something with music. I’m actually a musician and have been playing guitar my whole life. I’m currently a solo artist who plays classic and soft rock. Due to my musical background, it’s no surprise that my two favorite tv shows are The Masked Singer and American Idol.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I always recommend reading through the shift details thoroughly so you understand what the job requires before you apply to or confirm shifts. The shift details really provide all the information you need to make sure that you can be successful on a shift. I like to make sure that I can make it to the location at the start time, have the correct dress code and understand my responsibilities before I arrive. There are so many different options on the platform that if you read through the shift details and it does not appeal to you, you can just apply for shifts somewhere else.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I’ve worked almost all hospitality shifts because I have a background with that type of work. I’ve worked everywhere from Cherokee Town and Country Club, Piedmont Driving Club, Flik @ King, and a few others. I have worked several banquet serving shifts but focus mostly on dishwasher shifts. I really like the dishwasher shifts because you have a defined set of tasks and it can be fast-paced which makes the day go by really quickly. All the people I’ve met on the shifts have been great and that’s really the cherry on top.
