Why did you start working for Upshift?
I heard about Upshift in August, 2021 when I was looking for something online where I could work part-time with a flexible schedule. I have my own business designing home décor pieces. When you’re running your own business, you need the flexibility to be able to devote your time to the business so a typical part-time job would not have worked for me. Being able to pick when I work each week really appealed to me!
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I spend a lot of my time on my business making different household décor items. I make things like custom doormats, pillow covers etc. When I’m not working, you can usually find me doing something with music or sports. I used to be a hip-hop DJ so that’s been a passion of mine for a long time. I’m a really big football fan. I obviously root for the Dolphins because they’re the local team but my favorite team is the Ravens. I love watching Lamar Jackson.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
Communication and Teamwork are really important to being successful. You need to make sure to communicate effectively during your shifts. You want to make sure you understand what is expected of you and ask questions if you’re not sure what to do. Communication is also a big part of teamwork. These shifts usually require you to work with other people whether it be managers or other team members. Make sure to come in with a positive attitude and ready to help the team succeed at whatever tasks you have.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I’ve worked at a variety of businesses around the Miami area. I’ve worked at University of Miami, Nova University, FTX arena, and several other places. I love working at the different universities around town. I’ve really enjoyed being able to connect and help the students that we meet each day. I’m a big sports fan so being able to work Marlins and Heat games has been really awesome!
