Tell us what got you into Upshift?
I actually heard about Upshift from my mom back in July, 2022. I own a business and was looking for something to fill the gaps. My business requires me to have a flexible schedule as my appointments vary week to week so Upshift was exactly what I needed. Upshift allowed me to work shifts and make money without sacrificing the responsibilities I have with my business.
What do you do outside of work?
My martial arts business keeps me really busy so If I have free time I like to spend it outside. I’ve been cycling for a really long time and still love do that today. I have some family in Columbus so I always ride my bike up to visit them. Last week, I actually rode my bike up to Columbus, worked 2 shifts while I was up there and rode my bike back the next day. It was really cool being able to pick up shifts in another city while I was visiting family.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
I always recommend that you show up early to each shift so that you can make sure to be prepared when you arrive. This is especially important if you are going to a location that you’ve never been to. You also want to have a good attitude and put forth your best effort which will help you pick up future shifts at each location.
Would you recommend Upshift to your friends and family?
I’ve had great experiences at each location I’ve worked at so far so it’s hard to pick a favorite place or type of shift. I’ve worked everything from bartending, server, line cook, dishwasher and pizza cook positions among several others. I enjoy each position for a different reason and love that I get to choose what positions I’m going to work each week. I have to say one of my favorite places to work has been as a Pizza Cook at AVI Foodsystems & Amazon KCVG. I’ve always loved to cook so being able to make pizzas all day is a blast.
